Greywiki

Canonfire has a really great Wiki with all sorts of useful information about Greyhawk. I have spent the last couple of weeks pouring through the posts and it I have to admit that it is really excellent work, as always from those guys, and highly recommended if you feel like rediscovering the wonders of Greyhawk.

Check out the Wiki here.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 HD coming

Yes!

My favorite game of all time is being re-released by Ubisoft. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is getting a make over and will be releases in January 2015 in HD. Of all the HOMM editions, the third installment is my absolute favorite. I tend to install it every few years and play it through, even though I have done it so many times.

Now the game will be released in HD so it will look much better on newer PCs. Check out part of the update below.

Very good news indeed.

4400

Speaking of canceled shows; check 4400 on Netflix. There are four season as far as I remember and we never got an ending, but the show is excellent.

Terra Nova

Terra-NovaI am on parental leave for three months (yes, with full pay), and as our daughter has come down with a bad cold, there was nothing more to do than to turn to Netflix for the daily dose of entertainment. Luckily, we both like watching series, and so it was an easy choice to start Terra Nova again.

We have actually seen it before some years ago, but we were both in the mood, so with a couple of peanut butter sandwiches and some coffee for me, we have spent the better part of the day spacing out to that show.

I really like this show, and I think the storyline was very promising. Unfortunately Fox did not want to continue the show, and it is now dead. That reminds me of the state of Dragonlance come to think of it. Anyway, we are talking Shakespeare here, but the story is quite compelling and the setting is really cool. I am not sure the villain is quite as good as he could have been, but he has a good story to him.

I can recommend Terra Nova, however, there is the caveat that there is only one season on Netflix and there won’t be any more, so you are left with an empty kind of feeling when you are done.

Oh yeah, how cool is Nathaniel Taylor by the way?

The state of Dragonlance

I was checking for news on Dragonlance yesterday, and not surprisingly, there was no news at all. So, the answer to the question above would be; not good. Even the Dragonlance Nexus and Dragonlance Forums seem a little slow, which I find more critical than the lack of support by Wizards of the Coast. The fan base, it appears, has outgrown the setting thereby eroding any financial base for Dragonlance.

I haven’t read any of my books for a long time, and I fear that if I ever do, I will not enjoy them as I used to. Hopefully we will see a revival of the setting within the foreseeable future.

That being said, I think Dragonlance is somewhat timeless, at least for me, so once the books get moved back, I hope to read them all one more time.

H.P Lovecraft

I stumbled across this article over at the Verge about H. P Lovecraft. I think he is a very interesting and his story is fascinating in a tragic kind of way. I have only read a few of Lovecraft’s novels, but they always made a pretty big impact on me, almost like I was lost in a psychotic nightmare.

Anyway, check out the article, and the go read the Call of Cthulhu or At the Mountains of Madness. You won’t be sorry.

New blog

Well, the blog is the same, only I got a new domain for it. I used to use a subdomain on my other domain to host the blog, but since I have that geek itch going on these days, I had to get a new one.

Ultimately, the move was really easy and took about an hour all in all. I have not deleted the old blog yet, meaning there are now three versions floating around the internet. Anyway, I doubt I will start a post fest here, but I stumbled across some random notes the other day, that could turn into some interesting posts. At least they will be fun to write.
