Let the past die

Kylo Ren says these words in The Last Jedi. Having just watched The Rise of Skywalker, these words are more true than ever.

The funny thing is that this movie reminds of how Dragonlance was dismantled. However, this is not a Dragonlance post.

A lot of people my age have a lot feelings about Star Wars, a lot of us got to see some of the originals in the theater and the impact was monumental. However, with the changes brought by the sequel trilogy, I think it’s time to realize that Star Wars is no longer for my generation. It is for a new generation. A generation that has a whole new set of characters to identify with. We can always debate who well written the new characters are, but the fact of the matter is, that there are new crew on the Falcon, and this crew is not for us.

There are about 23 seconds of cool scenes in The Rise of Skywalker that makes people my age feel like the old Star Wars is back, but the rest is for the next generations. I might still buy the upcoming Thrawn books, but as far as movies go, I don’t think I will be watching them, unless they are very different.

For me, there’s only one more thing to say:

The weirdest thing just happened. I just sat down and started writing the synopsis for a module I have been thinking about off and on for a long time. I doubt there will ever be anybody playing this, or me even finishing it, but I must admit it feels nice to use my brain in this way again.

The constant sensory assault of modern day life seems to be toned down just a little bit when I can focus on writing.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Oh yeah, my paladin is now level 7.

Another Dragonlance product out of print

Wizards of the Coast have announced the next trove of products that are now out of print. Unsurprisingly, there are three Dragonlance novels on the list

It’s the Mina trilogy for those that might not now, one of the last trilogies to ever be published in the Dragonlance settings.

Update: Looks like The Second Generation is also out of print.

What to read?

Today is the last day of summer. Normally that would be a reason to be a bit sad, but for some reason I am looking forward to the fall. This summer I have read a lot of books, which has been a good exercise for my smartphone damaged brain.

Only thing is, what to read? I was gaming last night, and despite all the Dragonlance books I read recently,I think I am ready for a few more. I am considering the Taladas trilogy, which is one of my favorites. However, there is also the possibility of diving into some Forgotten Realms. I have read a large chunk of the Drizzt books, but am otherwise blissfully ignorant of the setting.

I guess it’s off to Amazon.

New acquisition project

My next target is the Dhamon saga by Jean Rabe. I have always detested the 5th Age and therefore I have mostly avoided it. However, for some odd reason, I have developed a weird interest 15 years after they stopped publishing the setting. Maybe I am just starved for some Dragonlance books.

I read Dragons of a New Age when it came out, but it was never a book that got me super interested in the 5th Age. However, I a, looking forward to diving a bit more into the Age of mortals and see if maybe I was mistaken when I discarded it.

Amazon is usually my friend during these endeavors, so let’s hope there are some European books stores that have these books.

Update: So, I have been going through Amazon, and so far each book will cost me around £20, which is a bit too much. I am going to my old bookstore tomorrow, so hopefully I can find them there, although I do not have high hopes.
