Not much to say about this one, except that I am the proud owner of PHB 5e.
Larry Elmore is for me the synonymous with Dragonlace. His contribution to the setting has been pivotal in defing that Dragonlance feeling. This piece shows Kitiara as the Blue Dragon highlord, although at the time we didn’t know. Next to her is Laurana who is the exact opposite of Kitiara. In many ways, it was cool to see women depicted not as damsels in distress, but warriors in their own right.
This being one of the original covers triggers a lot of nostalgia.
